2 Kings 23 - Part 2

Last time we considered together the later part of the reign of Josiah. In preparation for this time please read 2 Kings 23:29-25:30, & 2 Chronicles 36. Also note that during this time the prophets Jeremiah & Ezekiel were active. NOTE: This will conclude our study of Kings. We will pause during the rest of July & August and start back the Bible Study in September. We will then study Ezra, Nehemiah, and the related prophecies of Haggai, Zechariah & Malachi. During our study we will also see how the Lord spoke to ones in exile though Daniel & Ezekiel, as well as in Esther. 2 Kings 21-23

Last time we considered together the reign of Manasseh, his evil reign, his discipline, his repentance and restoration. This week we will consider Kings Amon & start Josiah. In preparation for the time please read 2 Kings 21:19-26, 2 Kings 22:1 to 23:30; 2 Chronicles 33:21-25 & 2 Chronicles 34-35 . Also note that during the reign of Josiah the prophets Jeremiah ,Zephaniah and possibly Habakkuk enter the picture. 2 Kings 21

 Read 2 Kings Chapter 21 and 2 Chronicles Chapter 33 for this week's study. Here are some questions to help prepare for our study. King Manasseh 2 Kings 21:1-18 and 2 Chronicles 33:1-10 How old was Manasseh when he took the throne? Consider Joash. (2 Kings 12 and 2 Chronicles 24) another king of Judah who took the throne at a young age. Was he actually allowed too rule the nation at so young an age? If not, who helped Joash? 2 Kings 20

This week we will consider from 2 Kings 20, 2 Chronicles 32:24-33 & Isaiah 38-39. Last time we considered Hezekiah's 1st test: The Assyrian invasion of Judah. This week we will consider the other 2 tests: His illness and the envoys from Babylon. As we saw last time 2 Kings 18-20 are not in chronological order. Our chapters this week, 2 Kings 20, et. al., occurred before Sennacherib's 2nd invasion in 2 Kings 18:17. 2 Kings 18:13-19

This week we will consider from 2 Kings 18:13 to the end of chapter 19. These chapters are recorded almost verbatim in Isaiah 36-37.  Another, corresponding chapter is 2 Chronicles 32:1-23.  Last time we saw Hezekiah's reforms and the Passover celebration. In these next few chapters we see Hezekiah being tested in 3 ways. We will consider the 1st test this time: The Assyrians invade Judah. 2 Chronicles 29-31

 Dear brothers and sisters, In the next two Bible studies we will be studying the reign of King Hezekiah. This week you will need to read 2 Chronicles 29, 30, and 31. Yes, three chapters. Chapter 29 covers the cleansing of the temple. Chapter 30 covers the restoring of the Passover. Chapter 31 covers other reforms under King Hezekiah. We will not read all the verses during our time on Friday night, but shall read them all in preparing for that time. Here are some questions to help as you read: Chapter 29 (V. 3-9) How far into King Hezekiah's reign did he begin the work on the temple? What was the condition of the temple?
